Gus Hansen experienced a marvelous year on the WPT where he was the only one to make it to the closing poker table in three of the events. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he paid $400, 000 to play. You may recall one of the biggest pots in big stakes poker history against Daniel Negreanu. Gus raked in a massive pot with 4 of a kind against Negreanu’s full house. Hansen has earned many televised poker appearances and is considered to be one of the best players in the world. While playing online poker, another side of Hansen has appeared. Gus often plays in the 200/400 NL max buy-in of Forty Thousand dollars. Gus more often than not buys in for the minimum of Sixteen Thousand dollars and plays very poorly. He sits there waiting for a decent hand and then pushes all in. I accept that Gus is an excellent poker player but not even close to the everyday players at 200/400no limit. Unless he is broke, he has no reason to sit at the table with the minimum buy-in.
Buying in for the minimum takes most of the expertise out of big stack poker. Hansen is accepted to be one of the best poker players anywhere in the world but he can’t buy in for the total dollar value. I believe tv can skew our view of the real world at times. The greatest poker players anywhere in the world could be guys you have will not have heard of before. Gus can be seen gambling on web poker on Full Tilt.
