NL Texas Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been referred to as the best poker player on the globe by most of the top-ranked professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before reaching the age of one. His grandpa taught him penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was hooked on poker and wished to learn whatever he possibly could about poker. He routinely told his parents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t allow the negative feedback from others annihilate his dream of becoming one of the greatest poker players in the world.

He started competing seriously after acquiring a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He honed his game at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The initial few years for Phil were a learning period and coming away with a win was not a common thing at the time. He became known at the 2000 WSOP when he made two final tables and won his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the last table he destroyed quite a few of the well known pros including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He decided to take his game to the successive level and moved out west to Las Vegas. Phil continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Ivey credits his success to discipline and an undying love for poker. He says that he’s picking up skills every day and is incredibly humble about his achievements. He knows he makes blunders in each game of poker and constantly aspires to get better.

Although Ivey has won some big-time tournaments, he prefers destroying money games on a regular basis.
