Net Big Stakes Poker- Who is Gus Hansen?

January 17th, 2024 at 10:25

Gus Hansen experienced a marvelous year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only participant to achieve last game in three of the tournaments. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You might recall one of the largest pots in big stakes poker recorded history competing against Daniel Negreanu. Gus won a big pot with 4 of a kind against Daniel’s full house. Hansen has made many televised poker appearances and is thought to be one of the strongest players anywhere in the world. While betting on net poker, another side of Hansen has appeared. Gus frequently plays in the 200/400 NL maximum buy-in of $40, 000. Gus usually buys-in for the minimum of $16, 000 and gambles very poorly. He sits there waiting for a good hand and then goes all in. I accept that Gus is an outstanding poker player but not even close to the familiar players at 200/400NL. Unless he is flat broke, he has little or no reason to sit at the game with the min buy-in.

Buying in for the minimum takes most of the ability out of deep stack poker. Gus is accepted to be one of the best poker players anywhere in the world but he can’t buy in for the total amount. I think tv can skew our view of the real world at times. The best poker players in the world could be players you have won’t have heard of. Gus can be seen participating in internet poker on Full Tilt. He commonly participates in big stakes Omaha and texas holdem. Gus has shown himself as a competition player. Can he back up his skills in money games?
