Omaha Hi Lo: Basic Outline

Omaha Hi-Lo (also known as Omaha 8 or better) is often times seen as one of the most complicated but well-loved poker games. It is a game that, even more than regular Omaha poker, invites play from all levels of players. This is the chief reason why a once invisible game, has expanded in acceptance so rapidly.
Omaha/8 starts exactly like a normal game of Omaha. Four cards are given out to each player. A sequence of betting ensues where gamblers can wager, check, or fold. Three cards are dealt out, this is called the flop. Another sequence of betting happens. Once all the players have in turn called or dropped out, another card is revealed on the turn. a further round of wagering ensues at which point the river card is revealed. The entrants will have to put together the best high and low 5 card hands based on the board and hole cards.
This is the point where a few players can get flustered. Unlike Hold’em, in which the board can make up everyone’s hand, in Omaha hi low the player has to use exactly 3 cards from the board, and precisely two hole cards. Not a single card more, no less. Contrary to regular Omaha, there are 2 ways a pot may be won: the "high hand" or the "low hand."
A high hand is just how it sounds. It’s the strongest possible hand out of every player’s, whether that is a straight, flush, full house, etc. It is the very same concept in almost every poker game.
The low hand is more complicated, but certainly free’s up the play. When figuring out a low hand, straights and flushes do not count. the lowest hand is the weakest hand that could be made, with the lowest being made up of A-2-3-4-5. Because straights and flushes do not count, A-2-3-4-5 is the lowest possible hand. The lower hand is any 5 card hand (unpaired) with an 8 and smaller. The lower hand takes half of the pot, as does the high hand. When there is no low hand presented, the higher hand wins the entire pot.
While it seems complex at the outset, after a couple of rounds you will be agile enough to get the basic nuances of the game easily enough. Seeing as you have people wagering for the low and betting for the high, and since such a large number of cards are in play, Omaha hi low provides an overwhelming range of wagering options and owing to the fact that you have numerous players trying for the high, as well as several trying for the low. If you love a game with a considerable amount of outs and actions, it’s not a waste of your time to compete in Omaha/8.
