Internet High Stakes Poker- Gus Hansen

January 5th, 2019 at 6:25

Gus Hansen experienced a wonderful year on the WPT where he was the only gambler to make it to the last game in three of the events. Gus Hansen has appeared on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You might remember one of the largest pots in high stakes poker history up against Daniel Negreanu. He secured a huge pot with 4 of a kind against Negreanu’s full house. Hansen has earned many tv poker appearances and is considered to be one of the best players in the world. While participating in web poker, another side of Hansen has appeared. Gus often participates in the 200/400 NL maximum buy-in of Forty Thousand dollars. Hansen more often than not buys in for the min of $16, 000 and gambles very weak. He waits patiently for a good hand and then pushes all-in. I believe Gus is a great poker player but certainly not even close to the regular players at 200/400NL. Unless he is bankrupt, he has little or no reason to sit at the table with the min buy in.

Playing for the min takes a majority of the ability out of deep stack poker. Hansen is accepted to be 1 of the best players in the world but he can’t buy-in for the full dollar value. I believe tv can skew our perception of the real world every now and then. The greatest players in the world may be players you have never heard of before. Gus can be seen participating in internet poker on Full Tilt. He generally competes in high stakes omaha/8 and texas holdem. Gus Hansen has shown himself as a tournament player. Can he use his skills in money games?
